SWATCH + REVIEW: YSL VOLUPTE SHEER CANDY in #9 Cool Guava

Finally! I have finally decided to touch this beautifully untouched lippie and test it out!
I purchased this YSL Volupte Sheer Candy glossy balm during the Sephora VIB sale in November and have just pulled this baby out within the past week.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the packaging? Not only are the YSL lipsticks/glossy balms in the prettiest of casings, I love how the color of the bullet is shown on the outside behind the YSL logo. The case itself is very good quality as it has a nice weight to it and is sturdy.

I wanted a product that I would get a ton of use out of, instead of having it just sitting in my collection looking pretty, though there's nothing wrong with that! A glossy balm is exactly something I was looking for since it is easy to wear and is not a high maintenance product and I can easily reapply without a mirror.

This product is exactly what is says it is, a glossy balm. I played around with this lippie for about a week and I have to say I am in love with it! It won't be for those looking for major color payoff. As a glossy balm, this product leaves a nice sheer wash of color to your lips while keeping them nice and hydrated while adding the shine of a gloss. For this color, Cool Guava/Goyave Sorbet, imagine the color as a sheer rose flavored hard candy (like the name suggests, durr). I like that this leaves the glossy look without being sticky, like some glosses. It feels really comfortable on the lips and kept my lips nice and soft even after the product wore off.

The product has a very decent amount of wear time for a glossy balm type of product. For gloss balms/lip balms in general, I find myself reapplying quite often (like every hour or so) even when I don't eat or drink anything. I could still feel this product on my lips after 2.5 hours and was quite surprised by it considering the type of lip product this is. It didn't smear or melt off my lips. Also, the smell of this item was lovely! Sweet like candy, but not overly sweet like cake batter or something. I smelled a hint of fruit in it so it really did remind me of fruity hard candy.
Yes this item is pricy for a lip product. You are basically paying the money for a high end, nice quality, shiny lip balm, but do I regret it? Nope! I have been wanting a YSL lippie for the longest time and feel this was the perfect first one to dip my foot into.

I definitely want pick another one of these Sheer Candy glossy balms up (during a sale of course, just to justify it) but I am definitely eying up another YSL lipstick (the Rouge Volupte Shine in #19 Fuchsia in Rage --I'm looking at you Louise from Lilting-Grace!!) Ever since her post on this purple lipstick, I have been craving it!

If you have the money saved or a little extra cash to spend and you want to treat yourself, I would definitely recommend buying one of the YSL lip products. Or, since it is close to the holidays, I say put it on your wish list! Or maybe you'll get a gift card to Sephora or Nordstrom that you could use to buy one too!

Readers, have you tried any YSL lip products? What are your favorites? Let me know, I'd love to check them out!
