I'm always looking for new smoothie recipes, especially ones that are beneficial to my health and a bit different than the 'norm'. Here is an anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe from Well and Awake that uses Strawberry & Basil with a little of my own extra take on it.
This smoothie is more hearty (especially with the added almonds) and is not meant to be drank as a cleansed (like juice cleanses) or a meal replacement. This anti-inflammatory smoothie is meant to "reduce small intestine inflammation and overall acidity in the body."
Plus, its full of healthy ingredients that are beneficial for you body, so whether you believe in Alkaline products balancing the pH level of your blood and body, you won't lose from drinking this unique, but tasty drink!
What you need:
1 - 2 cups Frozen Strawberries* (or fresh ones)
Handful Italian Basil*
1/2 Lemon* (you can also blend the rind if you want)
Soaked Raw Almonds*
Chia Seeds*
1 Young Coconut (water & meat)
*indicates USDA Organic ingredients
What to do:
1) Blend frozen strawberries first
2) Add coconut water and take out the meat. Add to blender.
3) Add the rest of the ingredients and blend away!
1-2 servings
Readers, do you guys like fresh smoothies? What are some of your favorite recipes? I'd love to know!
